Uncertainity Sunday

With gas prices, the economy, hurricanes, friends being diagnosed, students with an life threatening illness, school and just life in general it makes me thankful for what I have. The Lord had blessed me with 2 healthy children, a wonderful husband and marriage, a roof over our heads, food for my children and a job to support all of this. I received this email and I did as it says... I stop to think about all of this. I have often thought about God being angry with us. This all makes sense now. Let's give thanks to the Lord above and STOP saying okay!!!

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning
Commentary.


My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees.. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.


It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a cr�che, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.


I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.


Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.


In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.


Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.
How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.


Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.


Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.


Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Prayers Please !

I just found out a long time friend has cancer! Lynn and I have been friends since we were in the 7th grade. We met at church camp in Kerrville. The funny part was our families have known each other for years. It's amazing that we have always stayed in contact with each other. Although, I don't see her as often as I would like I think about her all the time. I'm asking for prayers for Lynn. She will under go surgery October 13th. The Lord works in mysterious ways, and this was caught early. As she says "It's only a bump in the road." I love you Lynn and you are in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Hi Everyone,
I am writing this letter on behalf of our daughter, Hannah and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
As you may be aware of, Hannah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on January 7, 2008 at the age of 7. She is now completely insulin dependant, which means that she must take insulin injections daily. This was a total shock to us and has changed our lives completely. One day Hannah was complaining of a belly ache and I thought she had the flu and then a few days later she was being admitted to the PICU with her blood sugars at 1050 (normal is between 80 – 120), where she stayed for 2 ½ days and was in the hospital for the rest of the week. Type 1 Diabetes is a devastating disease that strikes suddenly and very quickly. We do not have a family history of this disease and Type 1 is not related to lifestyle factors. There is not a cure for this disease yet, which means Hannah will have to take insulin for the rest of her life. She is now 8 years old. Hannah started out having to take 4 shots of insulin daily. She is now on an insulin pump but still has to prick her fingers 12+ times per day and throughout the night. That equals about 2070 times since Jan 7 that she has had to prick her fingers and she has had over 600 shots just this year. Most of the time Hannah is upbeat and smiling, but some days she cries, as do I. We change out her pump site every 2 – 3 days, and it is hard. I have to inject a long needle into her stomach, where a canula then stays. Hannah is still very active, though and loves to ride horses, play volleyball and basketball. There has to be a better way to manage this disease though. Hannah is our hero. She is so brave. We draw strength from her courage.
You can help Hannah and other children with this disease! Our family is walking in the 2008 JDRF Walk For A Cure. We have started a team and it is called “Hannah’s Bears.” The JDRF is the #1 funder of Type 1 Diabetes in the world. They are also very close to finding a cure. We want to do all we can to help make finding a cure in Hannah’s lifetime a reality. Our clinic, Back to Health Chiropractic is dedicating the month of September to “Hannah’s Bears” and we will be donating 100% of new patient proceeds to Hannah’s team. You can help by walking with our team on Saturday October 11, 2008 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Registration is at 12 noon with the 5K walk at 1:00 pm. We want as many family and friends to join our team and raise pledges that can. We have even ordered t-shirts for all of our team members! We think it will be a lot of fun! Good Bye Summer :(

Okay so my sister did this and I thought it was neat. Since today is the unoffical last day of summer I thought I'd say goodbye listing my most favorite events of the summer. Since I am a teacher Summer is always my favorite time of year. So I have lots of favorite things. Some of these I have blogged about so you will know what I'm talking about.

1. Hanging out with the girls all day long.

2. Swimming at my Aunt and Uncle's house with my mom, sister and the kids.

3. Getting a tan because as my sister says " Tan fat is pretty than white fat.)

4. Swimming at our house in our little pool with the whole family.

5. HURRICANE DOLLY oh yeah and our trip to the coast for a whole week. We're making T-shirts that say I survied Hurricace Dolly and BIG Week '08.

6. Randy Rogers Concert!!! Had a great time but paid for it the next morning.

7. OUr many trtips to Fiesta Texas.

8. July 4th... I loved everything about it. The parade in the morning and the fireworks at the park that night. It was just a great day.

9. Pottery painting with the girls. I will forever have this piece of art!!

10. Our trip to Houtson to what the Astros vs. Cardinals. We just wished Reagan could have been with us.

Goodbye to our friend summer! We look forward to what you have in store for us next year. We hope you had a wonderful summer, as well.

'Twas the Day Before the 1st Day of School

'Twas the Day before the 1st day of School when all through the house mom was busy cleaning up after the little mouse! The backpacks were hung by the back door with care in hopes that the lunch box would soon get in there. The children were playing in there rooms while visions of textbook, pencils and crayons danced in their heads. While dad was reading the Sunday paper, mom went to a meeting at school for a bit. When mom sprang from her meeting to see what was the matter, she realized that her house was a mess. She wished there was a little fairy to come and make her life merry. Her mother was coming and spoke not a word but went straight to work and gleefully worked. I heard them exclaim as we went out of sight... Happy New School Year to all and to all a good night!

Hope everyone has a great first day of school. I can already tell this is going to be a great year. A new school (okay it's not new but it is to me.), new principal, and a wonderful class. This is going to be an awesome year! I'm sure I'll let you know how it goes.

Waiting on a Woman

Okay, I know 2 posts in 1 weekend. I should be cleaning my house, or getting ready for work tomorrow but instead I'm playing. We were running a few errands the other day and this song came on the radio. Ryan said this was his song because he's always waiting on a woman. I never really listened to the song until he pointed it out. We all laughed and then I kinda had to feel sorry for him. Poor Ryan is always waiting on a woman on a woman. Ryan is the only male in a household of 6 woman. I say 6 because our puppy, fawn and kitten are all female. Listen to this song and think of Ryan.

Nothing really???

Well, I don't really have much to blog about today. I just felt like blogging. This morning Ryan was going to surprise us with breakfast. However, to his surprise the freezer outside went out. We had to take EVERYTHING out of the freezer. Yes, this sucks!!! We managed to save a lot of the food but all of the sausage we made had to go. I guess we were a little tired of that anyway. Ryan went to work at the river while the girls and I went to Sears to buy a new freezer. I really don't care for the mall but on TAX FREE weekend... I HATE it. There were people everywhere. Are you really saving that much money? Anyway, we got a freezer and it will be delivered tomorrow. I'm sure Ryan's grandma will be happy since all of our food is in her freezer.

This is my last weekend before I go back to school. As much as I love being home with the girls, I always love the beginning of school. It's a chance to start all over. My classroom is going to be a wild theme. I'm thinking in more ways than one. We have moved from the old middle school to the old Elementary school. We are getting a brand new school in 2 years. This is will be cool.
